Peaceful Tomorrows Statement on Mayor Mamdani at Ground Zero

September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows firmly supports the presence at Ground Zero of anyone who comes to pay their respects; mourn the loss of nearly three thousand precious lives; and honor the dead.
Mayor Mamdani has consistently affirmed his intention to bear witness and honor the families, survivors, and first responders, whose lives were forever changed by the attacks. In doing so, he will be carrying out the same responsibility that New York City mayors before him have undertaken: to stand with all New Yorkers in remembrance and honor those we lost.
We strongly condemn the anti-American accusations and Islamophobic sentiment underlying the effort seeking to prevent him from being at Ground Zero.
For decades, we have firmly maintained that Ground Zero is sacred space and should never be used as a platform for political speech or partisan politics. Ground Zero remains a burial ground.
All are welcome to visit, reflect, and commemorate the lives lost.
Blaming one man is not right; will these petitioners be demanding that Mayor Mamdani never be allowed to go there? I thank you for standing up for peace and doing the right thing.
It surprises me to see that family members of those who died on 911 are willing to accept support from the Soros family. It's even more surprising to see their support for Mamdani. Unfortunately, they mustn't have paid much attention to his past support and association with individuals accused of being anti-American while minimizing 911. It has nothing to do with him being a Muslim, it's his being a terrorist sympathizer that's the problem.
Mamdani's presence on 911 will offend many more 911 families than those who support him being in attendance, due to their mental health issue called "white guilt syndrome".
