Peaceful Tomorrows to Mark 25 Years Since 9/11 with Reflection, Peace Walk & Silent Vigil
Event Date: September 10th, 2026
Location: New York, NY
Twenty five years after September 11, 2001, September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows will gather to honor those who were lost and reaffirm a commitment to their founding goals, peace, human rights, and a future beyond war.
The commemoration, “Standing Together” will bring together 9/11 family members, peace advocates, faith communities, human rights organizations, and allies for an evening of reflection, remembrance, and a collective call for a more peaceful tomorrow.
Event schedule:
5:00 PM - Reflection & Recommitting: Union Square Park, South West Plaza/Gandhi Statue
6:00 PM - Peace Walk: Participants will walk together from Union Square to Ground Zero
7:00–8:00 PM - Remembrance & Vigil: Ground Zero, 9/11 Memorial & Museum Site
The event is intended to honor the lives lost on September 11th, while recognizing the many ways that Peaceful Tomorrows and allies have advocated over the past 25 years to promote peace, and reject cycles of violence, while committing to justice, accountability, and a shared humanity.
As we mark this milestone anniversary, we invite all who share these values to join us in recommitting ourselves to a more peaceful and just future.
Important notice to media: The Ground Zero portion of the event, from 7:00–8:00 PM, will be a vigil. There will be no professional or commercial media video or audio recording permitted during this portion of the event. We kindly ask all participants, including members of the media, to respect the solemnity of Ground Zero and the wishes of family members gathered there.
