Friday, August 19th 2005 Friday 5:30 - 8:30 PM; Saturday 9AM - 4PM
Fonda, New York
Directions:
Take the NYS Thruway to exit 28, Fonda/Fultonville. Turn left after
exiting then right over the bridge. Turn left on Route 5. Proceed
approximately 1 &1/2 miles (through Fonda to the National Kateri
Tekakwitha Shrine on the right.
Some may ask, why a call to conscience? The answer is simple, really.
Conscience is, "the internal recognition of right and wrong as regards
one's actions and motives . . . " Many of us are deeply troubled by the
actions of our nation and wonder what has happened to our national
conscience.
In the pursuit of an untroubled conscience based on our nation's
spiritual and religious traditions; in the pursuit of peace both home
and abroad, within and without, we will look at how we are conducting
ourselves as individuals and a nation and ask, "Are we doing what is
right?" And, if we conclude that in some cases the answer is no, we
will look further to see how we might once again find our way.
The life's journey and experiences of our speakers have required them
to look very closely at these questions. Challenged directly by
profoundly troubling experiences each has found a way of affirming the
best of our spiritual traditions, leading to constructive peaceful
action and the development of understanding and tolerance in the face
of ignorance and violence. Come and join us in this day of learning and
reflection, A Call To Conscience.

9/11 -- The Quest For Truth Continues
Saturday, April 30th 2005 7PM
New York, New York
Understanding what really happened on 9/11 requires us to widen our
political awareness. We must see 9/11 in a larger geo-political context
to realize the broad ramifications of this event in history, how it has
shaped our present as well as how it's determining our future.
Therefore, the urgency for truth only gets stronger with time since new
evidence calling into question the official story and the 9/11 Report
continues
to surface.
Speakers will include Phil Berg (RICO lawsuit against Bush
administration), Ray McGovern (retired CIA analyst), John Buchanan
(9/11 Truth Candidate), Bob McIlvaine (9/11 victim family member), Nick
Levis (anthrax research, http://www.911truth.org),

In 1990, three months after the release of Nelson Mandela,
anti-apartheid, activist Father Michael Lapsley was sent a parcel. When
Fr Lapsley opened it, an explosion brought down ceilings in the house
and blew a hole in the floors and shattered windows. It blew off both
of the priest's hands, destroyed one eye and burned him severely.
Today,
Fr Lapsley focuses upon the need for making the transition from victim,
to survivor, and eventually to victor. Remaining filled with anger and
hatred would keep him entrenched in the role of victim. His recovery
was fuelled by a deep conviction to participate in creating a different
kind of world.
His work with 'The Institute for Healing the
Memories' throughout South Africa and internationally contributes
significantly towards helping the victims of oppression and violence to
"heal and remember".
